How to make the text bigger on your phone or tablet
This is one of the most useful — and least known — settings. Your device can display text much bigger, everywhere: messages, emails, menus. Here’s how.
On iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings, then tap Display & Brightness.
- Tap Text Size.
- Slide the cursor to the right until reading feels comfortable.
- For even bigger: Settings → Accessibility → Display & Text Size → Larger Text.
On Android (Samsung and others)
- Open Settings, then look for Display.
- Tap Font size and style (the name varies slightly between phones).
- Slide the cursor to the size that suits you. Some phones also let you enlarge the icons right next to it.
The change applies immediately, everywhere. And if one day everything feels TOO big, the same slider brings it back — nothing is ever permanent.
This one setting genuinely changes daily life: reading an email from family, an STM schedule or a Clic Santé appointment without reaching for your glasses. It’s often the very first thing we do together during the first lesson, which is free — because everything else gets easier afterwards.
Frequently asked questions
Is there also a magnifier for zooming now and then?
Yes! On iPhone/iPad: Settings → Accessibility → Zoom. On Android: Settings → Accessibility → Magnification. You can then zoom any screen with a triple tap.
Can I make text bigger on my computer too?
Of course. The universal shortcut in a browser: hold the Ctrl key (or Cmd on a Mac) and press + to enlarge, - to shrink.
